Week 1: Team Formation and Project Proposal

Week of September 14-18

This week focused on forming our five-person capstone team and discussing project proposals. We selected Ximic, an eight-month project to develop a force-feedback upper-body exoskeleton for humanoid robotics platforms.

Project direction

The proposed system will let a human operator control a humanoid robot through upper-body motion while receiving physical feedback from the robot. The project will draw on mechanical design, electronics, software, and controls as it moves from problem definition to a working prototype.

Design-log website

We also began the project website that will serve as our design log. The course requires one website per group, with each member's work shown clearly. We will use it to track the timeline of our design work and share progress during weekly instructor meetings.

Next week

During the week of September 21-25, we will develop the project proposal by defining the need, objectives, constraints, and evaluation criteria. We will also finish the initial website and submit its link by September 25.
